Before Kylie Verzosa made the Philippines proud by earning the Miss International 2016 crown, she got the chance to meet with President Rodrigo Duterte.
The new beauty queen couldn’t help but quip how she felt the “luckiest” upon meeting the president while he was on his three-day state visit to Japan.
She shared her encounter with the chief executive on her Instagram account.
“Today I am the luckiest!!! President Duterte at his state visit to Japan, felt at home with all the Filipinos. Thank you for all your good energy, thank you to everyone who made this possible. #missinternational2016 #rehearsalday,” she captioned her post.
While in Japan, Duterte held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and met with Japanese businessmen.
Both countries agreed to collaborate on security and defense.
Duterte, however, cancelled his courtesy call to Emperor Akihito to allow the imperial family to grieve the passing of the emperor’s uncle, Prince Mikasa.
