I spoke with Cesar Montano last Wednesday, the day news broke out his son with former actress Teresa Loyzaga, Diego, supposedly posted tirades against him on Instagram. It was understandable Cesar was beside himself, trying hard to contain shock, dismay, grief and frustration – not necessarily in that order.
He asked me if I have read Diego’s post and I told him the truth, that I didn’t. I could tell from the long pauses between words that Buboy, as we, his friends, would call Cesar, was struggling to make sense of the situation. All I can hear was a man in pain.
Honestly, I couldn’t think of a worse conflict than that involving a father and his son. In such cases, no party comes out unscathed.
Buboy told me, “I am hurt. But all I did was try and protect him like any father would. He has a problem. There is nothing I want more than to be able to help him. I only want what’s best for him. He is my son. I love him.”
Diego has since deleted the posts.
It is my prayer both will be able to talk and sincerely reconcile. Understanding that issues between them are twice magnified because of their positions in the public eye, we pray they will soon revisit that loving relationship they shared in the not so distant past.
