It has been a decade since Pineda lead Journey as their lead singer, and was contacted by Neal Schon of Journey through an email and flew to Marin County for an audition. He debuted with Journey on February 21, 2008 at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival.

Pineda shares his story with the US Embassy Insider, talks about his dreams and how he was able to achieve them.

He talks about his past experience applying for a US Visa, and jokingly said he was never nervous about interviews, but rather felt ‘desperate’, “I was once denied once, that’s why I told myself, I would never apply for a US Visa again,” he added.

Pinesa said, being on a band with a different culture influenced him in so many ways. He added trying to blend with the band to keep Journey’s legacy for the fans, because they have given so much for them.

“If you love music, you don’t find it difficult (going on tours and being on the road), and it just flows in you,” Pineda said. He admitted getting strength from the crowd.

He feels thankful for the band, for being kind and generous towards him.
