Star Magic artists Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson and Daniel Padilla were not keen on clearing the air on the status of their respective love lives during a chat at Star Magic’s thanksgiving party for its 25th anniversary.
Queried about his rumored romance with Shaina Magdayao, Piolo blurted in jest as if about to leave, “Naghihintay ’yung taxi sa baba, eh.”
Turning serious, he said, “Grabe, hindi ko alam kung paano sagutin. Pwede ba political questions na lang? Ang hirap magsalita, hindi kasi ako showbiz.”
He relented in the end, however, sharing, “Mahirap i-label, I guess. Whatever it is, we just have mutual respect not only for each other but for everyone else involved so, as much as possible, we do not want to talk about it. But yeah, we’re dating. Nandoon kami (sa level na ’yun).”
Known to be very private with his personal affairs, Piolo added, “Whatever Sha and I have, it’s something that we value, something that we treasure and appreciate.”
Gerald was as reticent in discussing his romance with “A Love To Last” star Bea Alonzo.
“Sanay naman na siguro kayo sa akin. Napaka-private kung tao. Pagdating sa relationship hindi naman ako masyadong nag-o-open,” he said.
But asked if they’re actually an item, Gerald said, “Oo naman, bakit ko naman itatago ’yon?”
Asked further if love is sweeter the second time around, Gerald shared, “Isa lang ang na-realize ko with all of these: Kailangan mong i-enjoy ang moment. Kumbaga, ako isip ako nang isip dati kaya ako na-i-stress kapag ini-interview ako about my love life. Iniisip ko kung ano ang dapat kong sabihin. Iniisip ko ‘Pagsisihan ko ba ito o hindi?’ So ngayon ang sagot ko diyan is, ini-enjoy ko. Ini-enjoy ko bawa’t minuto. Kung mali man, sorry pero ’yun talaga, ini-enjoy ko lang.”
Fearing he might be misconstrued, Gerald added, “I’m saying that in general ha? Like ngayon, walang biro, ini-enjoy kong kausap kayo.”
Daniel, on his part, still doesn’t want to put a label on his relationship with Kathryn Bernardo, saying, “Obvious naman na ’yon. Alam n’yo na ’yon.”
Of late, Kathryn posted on social media a photo of her wearing a one-piece swimsuit. We asked Daniel if we should take it as sign that Kathryn is readying herself for sexy portrayals.
He said: “Ako hindi pa ako ready kay Kathryn na gawin ang mga ganoon. Pero darating naman ’yon. Parang normally, naturally. ’Wag lang siguro pipilitin, pangit eh.”
Daniel admitted he is strict with Kathryn but explained, “Pinangangalagaan ko lang naman siya. Hindi naman sa masyado akong overprotective pero siyempre iniisip din natin ang iisipin ng ibang tao, ng mga fans, ng mga supporters dahil marami kaming batang supporters. Ayaw ko silang mabigla.”
No abs yet but OTW
A chat with Joshua Garcia revealed he is thinking of developing abdominal muscles though he won’t bend over backwards to have them.
“Siyempre meron din naman akong plano pero hindi ko pa siya pina-prioritize ngayon,” he said. “Pero alam ko dadating ako dyan, unti-unti lang.”
Is Joshua envious of actors with seeming beach-ready bods?
“Siyempre hindi naman ako dapat maingit or what. Natutuwa nga kasi ako na-achieve nila ’yung ganun, so ibig sabihin pinaghirapan talaga nila ’yun,” he maintained.
He may not have have a to-die-for body at the moment but Joshua has seemingly made leaps and bounds where acting is concerned with most critics deeming him the next John Lloyd Cruz.
He admits liking the idea.
“Kapag sinabing John Lloyd, napakagaling talaga niya eh. So, nakakatuwa na (sa ganung paraan) ay nakikita rin ng mga tao ang pinaghihirapan ko.”
Then again, there’s the pressure.
“Kasi tumataas ang expectations ng mga tao sa mga susunod kong gagawin eh,” he said. “Kaya nga mas ginagalingan ko, mas inaayos ko ’yung mga ginagawa ko.”
The 19-year-old “Pinoy Big Brother” alumnus is thankful for all the opportunities coming his way, sharing he has long waited for it.
“Ramdam na ramdam ko ’yung success at sobrang saya kasi tagal kong inantay ’to eh,” he said. “Ang tagal kong inantay ’yung init na’to sa industriya.”
Joshua believes it’s all about perfect timing.
“Tapos ang isang pang nakakatuwa eh, ang gaganda ng mga roles na binibigay sa akin, sakto talaga,” he noted.
The actor is gaining accolades for his performance on ABS-CBN’s drama series “The Greatest Love.”
“Sa’kin naman po kasi ibinibigay ko lang lahat ng kaya ko, tapos iniisip ko, bahala na ang mga manonood na tumanggap at humusga,” he said.
Meanwhile, Joshua has good words for actress Sylvia Sanchez, who plays his mother on the series.
“Sobrang thoughtful niya sa’min and sobrang caring,” Joshua shared.
After the success of 2016 MMFF entry, “Vince And Kath And James,” Joshua revealed he is to do a follow up movie with Julia Barretto apart from a “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)” episode.
With their successful on-screen pairing, many are now asking if there’s a chance for Joshua and Julia to become a real life couple.
Joshua is open to the idea saying, “Pwede kong i-push ’yun.”
The actor revealed he and Julia communicate constantly.
“Nagkaka-textan kami ng madalas, tsaka nagkikita kami ng madalas kasi nga may mga shinu-shoot kami together,” he said.
So what does he likes about Julia?
“Ang bait kasi talaga niya eh,” he said. “Iba talaga ’yung pagkakakilala ko sa kanya, dati ko pa naman sinasabi na sobrang komportable ko sa kanya hindi ako natatakot na baka magkailangan kami.”
“Masaya talaga ako kapag kasama ko siya,” the young actor added.
All that said, Joshua doesn’t want to pursue the actress.
“Wala pa sa plano ko yan. Bata pa naman kami. For now career, hindi ko pa iniisip ’yung love,” he noted.
