Ai Ai Delas Alas wins acting award in Queens World Film Festival

Ai Ai Delas Alas has once again proved her versatility winning the Best Female Actor Award (Narrative Feature Category) at the recently concluded Queens World Film Festival.

Ai-Ai won for her performance in “Area,” a film directed by Louie Ignacio. In it, Ai-Ai plays the role of Hillary, an aging sex worker who is in search of her son.

“Napakagandang umaga sa inyong lahat … nagising ako at ito ang balita… maraming salamat QUEENS WORLD INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL AWARDS PARA SA PAG KAPANALO KO … pag kagising ko AT sinabi ni Gerald natulala ako sabay iyak sabay luhod at umiyak sa pasasalamat AT nanginginig pa katawan ko ( uti wala ako sa nyc kasi baka mahimatay ako d ko din makuha ang award hahah comedy talaga),” Ai Ai posted on Instagram on Monday, March 20.

The comedy queen thanked her producers and director for believing in her. Ignacio was also nominated for Best Director but didn’t get the win.

“Area” previously earned the Special Jury Prize at the 12th Eurasia International Film Festival.

“Nais kong ibahagi ang award na ito sa aming producer BG PRODUCTIONS tita baby salamat, FERDY LAPuZ , DENNIS EVANGELISTA , at sa lahat ng crew and staff ng BG PRODUCTIONS … sa AMING NAPAKABAIT NA DIREKTOR LOUI IGNACIO . Salamat direk sa pag tyatyaga mo sa first scene nayun kung hindi mo ko tinulungan sa eksena d yung magiging posible,” Ai Ai continued.

Ai-Ai beat Amy Redford of “Hate Crime,” Dorothea Hagena of “Mann Im Spagat – Pace, Cowboy, Pace,” Karin Hanczewsk of “Lotte” for the plum.

“Nais ko i bahagi din sa aking mga co nominated na mga aktres sa ibang bansa,” she said.

About 54 nations, including Spain, Korea, Bangladesh, China, Italy, the Ukraine, Iran, Belgium, Finland and the UK, were said to have submitted entries according to the festival’s website.

The Kapuso star thanked the Lord and her family for giving her inspiration and support. Her son Sancho also acted in the movie.

“I want to dedicate this award sa mga anak ko SANCHO SHAUN SOPHIA ANDREI.. at kay darl GERALD.. kayo ang inspirasyon kong maging mahusay sa trabaho ko… sa aking pamilya kay MOTHER JUSTA … salamat mama …..at sa lahat ng mga nagmamahal at NAGDASAL PARA SA AKIN … MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO.. And MAMA MARY thank you pinakinggan mo ang HILING ko sayo na ibuling mo sa makapangyarihan mong anak ang mga hiling ng aking puso .. AND TO GOD THE ALMIGHTY , LORD JESUS CHRIST WALANG HANGGANG PASASALAMAT SA PAGMAMAHAL AT LAHAT NG BLESSINGS NA IBINIBIGAY NYO ... I LOVE YOU PO,” she added.

Ai-Ai, who is also a Papal Awardee, currently stars in “Sunday Pinasaya” and “Hay, Bahay.”

The Queens World Film Festival was held in Astoria, New York on March 19 (US time).
