Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong held his first fan meeting since being discharged from the army.
At the gathering, he apologized to fans for recent controversies.
The actor and singer pushed through with the event called “Anemone” at the Olympic Hall in Seoul despite that he was involved in a drunk driving incident in March.
Days before the fan meeting, prosecutors filed a summary indictment on April 25 against the star seeking to fine him 2 million won (R88,612) for driving under the influence in which he was caught asleep behind the wheel at an intersection in Seoul. His agency accepted the penalty.
At the start of the fan meeting, Kim Hyun Joong sang “Words I Want to Say” and “Please.”
He then talked to fans and apologized, telling them he’s “sorry to disappoint you again.”
Kim Hyun Joong said he was afraid and embarrassed for meeting fans soon after the recent controversy but explained that if he didn’t hold the event that day, it would take a long time before he would be able to meet fans again.
During the program, he also performed “Thank You,” “Let Me Be The One,” “I’m Your Man,” and “Unbreakable.”
He also answered questions written by fans before the start of the fan meeting.
One fan from Singapore who went to the event wrote on her blog that “even with all the scandals and issues surrounding his personal life, I choose to stay as a fan.”
“Weirdly enough, there was not even once where I felt of not staying on. And I felt that most of us now are old fans of HJ who has stayed with him through the ups and downs, which make us feel even tighter with HJ i our hearts. I’m sure HJ would feel the same way towards us, fans as well,” wrote Babyvfan.
Kim Hyun Joong revealed there are no planned activities in Korea for him just yet but he will hold the tour “Inner Core” in Japan in June.
