10 reasons to attend the GetMusic Indie-Go fest

Do you enjoy watching all kinds of concerts or are you the type who splurges on foreign acts only?

Though there’s nothing wrong in saving up for pricey tickets to shows of, say, Britney Spears and Ed Sheeran, you should also not miss out on the local acts featured on GetMusic Indie-Go Festival today.

Bulletin Entertainment lists 10 reasons the festival is worth your time and support:

1. Diverse acts

Some 10 artists headline the festival and they are pop rockers She’s Only Sixteen; Soul–Motown–R&B specialists Jensen And The Flips; Soul–Jazz–Electronica stylists Conscious & The Goodness; and groove meisters MilesExperience and Sud.

Popular Filipino pop/rock band Autotelic will also be joining in on the fun, along with multi-awarded creative Reese Lansangan; poet NINNO; local synth – pop prime mover Somedaydream; and last but not the least, Gabby Alipe.

2. Malaysian connection

Malaysia’s pride An Honest Mistake will be part of the shindig, allowing participants a sample of their multi-faceted sound that range from summery easycore to emotional ballads, with the odd pulse-pounding screamo song here and there.

3. Hub for hip

The festival will reiterate OPM is alive with organizers setting up a separate stage for young, upcoming acts that won MCA’s online music video tilt. These are University of the Philippines’ STLO; University of Santo Tomas’ Papeta; Ateneo de Manila University’s The Cohens; and De La Salle University’s Matty Juniosa.

4. Super special

The participating bands promise to offer out-of-the-ordinary performances.

“Meron kaming ita-try du’n na hindi namin ginagawa usually, pinaghandaan namin ng husto ’to,” said Josh Villena of Autotelic.

MilesExperience will have a “drum light” sequence, something they said is better seen than explained.

5. Originals only

All of the acts vow to perform all-original material, something we should all be proud of. Go OPM!

6. Festival with a purpose

The whole idea of the festival is to highlight local music, is also to provide young acts a venue to widen their reach.

7. Huge setting, complete amenities

The concert will be held at the Mall Of Asia Arena, a far cry from the usual dives most of the acts featured have been gigging at.

“The only way for an artist to get better at his or her craft is to let them gain more experience,” Gabby said. “To let them perform at such a grand venue as the MOA Arena is a huge step up that would allow them to better present themselves and their art.”

8. Award-winning creative director

Expect the unexpected with award-winning creative director Paolo Valenciano pulling all stops to come up with an excellent show that, according to a release, will be “riddled with special extended, multi-member band setups, extra horn-section setup and stunning visuals that will mesmerize audiences of various ages.”

9. Affordable tickets

With ticket prices ranging from P1,000 to P4,000, you can actually invite all your friends and family to tag along.

10. Surprises galore

MCA Music’s Senior Business Development Manager Chris Hermosima said, “We don’t want to pre-empt everything but pretty sure there will be lots of impromptu surprises that would make the festival really memorable for everyone. There will also be memorabilia like caps, t-shirts, tote bags and the like.”
