If there’s one thing KZ Tandingan and Quest have in common – aside from their considerable musical talent – it’s that they’re both dreamers. They know what it’s like to have a dream that means so much to you that you’re willing to fight for it and win.

So, when BPI-Philam Life Assurance Corporation asked him to write and record a song for their new “Win The Moment” campaign, Quest knew exactly who he wanted to collaborate with.

“Matagal na naming plano ni KZ ’yung mag-collaborate, but we both got very busy, hindi kami nagkatagpo. Kaya when they asked who I wanted to do this with, I told them agad na kunin nila si KZ,” he said.

The chance to work with him aside, KZ agreed to do the campaign because she wanted to do something meaningful with her music.

“I think naging worth the wait ang collaboration namin. Nagustuhan ko itong project na ito kasi hindi lang kami basta mag-re-release ng kanta. As artists, it’s important we use our fame to encourage other people.”

Having dealt with their fair share of problems in the past, KZ and Quest know it’s important to help those who struggle to find the will to win.

Quest said he grew up in a hostile environment. It was only when his sister invited him to go to church with her on Nov. 9, 2002, that he found the courage to get himself out of the horrible situation he was in.

“I consider that my ‘winning moment’ because it was then I started to turn my life around,” he said. “I’ve been on this spiritual journey for 15 years now and I’m loving every minute of it.”

KZ was in a similar situation some years back, when she developed a throat condition that left her unable to hit high notes. A lesser person would’ve given up singing altogether, but KZ found a way to keep making music.

“I was forced na humanap ng paraan kung paano ako makakakanta na hindi ko na kailangan makipagsabayan sa mga biritero at biritera. Kung hindi nangyari ’yun, hindi ko mahahanap kung ano talaga ’yung identity ko as an artist,” she said.

“Win The Moment” was launched at the Win The Moment Festival, a wellness fair held at the TriNoma Activity Center recently.

The song is is available for streaming on all digital music services. Its music video is up on Quest’s YouTube channel (officialQUESTtv).
