The iconic rock group Aegis tells their story via a concert that Resorts World Manila (in cooperation with Ultimate Shows, Inc.) is mounting at the awarded Newport Performing Arts Theaters (NPAT).
Aptly titled “Aegis na Aegis: A Story of Us,” the concert will happen on Sept. 1, under the direction of Lambert de Jesus.
Among the band’s biggest hits are “Halik,” “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” “Luha” and “Sinta.”
This is the first time the group is performing in a big concert venue in the Philippines.
Sibling band members Juliet, Mercy and Ken Sunot expressed apprehension about it during the press launch.
They said, “Masaya kami na mayroong nagtiwala sa amin for a concert this big, isang malaki game karangalan ito, but 1,500-seater ang NPAT, makakaya kaya namin punuin Ito?”
They are approaching their second decade in showbiz and this makes their NPAT concert doubly exciting.
The band is happy to be considered national treasure. They also liked it that their songs have been used to great success in the stage musical “Rak of Aegis.”
The Sunot sisters have retained their distinctive singing voices through the years. Their secret? “We take care of our vocal cords. We don’t drink cold drinks or water, maligamgam lang. Bawal din sa amin ang ice cream at matatamis…”
The other members of Aegis are Rey Abenoja, guitars; Stella Pabico, keyboards; Rowena Adriano, bass; and Vilma Goloviogo, drums.
