The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards honored a few days ago at the National Theater of Korea some 30 people who have contributed to improving Korean pop culture in their country and abroad.
The Eungwan Order of Cultural Merit award was given to comedian Nam Bo Won, actress Kim Ji-mee, trot singer Tae Jin Ah and actor Nam Goong-Won. Composer Bae Sang-tae and scriptwriter Im Chung received the Bogwan Order of Cultural Merit award.
The Presidential Citation Ribbon was awarded to “Descendants Of The Sun” stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo, singer BoA, “Descendants Of The Sun” writer Kim Eun Sook, comedian Uhm Yong Soo, cartoonist Lee Hyun-se and Lee Jung Sun.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister’s Award went to Big Bang’s G-Dragon, actor Lee Kwang Soo, boy band SHINee, actors Cho Jin-woong and Yoo Ah In, actress Hwang Jung Eum, martial arts actor Kim Baek Soo, and lyricist Lee Geun Woo.
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism awardees are boy band BTS, actor Jo Jung Suk, singer Hwang Chi Yeol, musical actor Ock Joo Hyun, choreographer Son Sung Deuk, comedian and reporter Kim Saeng Min, model Im Joo Wan, voice actor Ahn Ji Wan and director Park Hui Ju.
The ceremony was organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
