K-pop groups EXO, BTS and TWICE emerged the biggest winners at the 2016 Melon Music Awards held on Nov. 19 in Seoul.
EXO bagged the Best Artist of the Year, Top 10, Netizen Popularity Award, Kakao Hotstar and Best Dance Artist (Male).
BTS won the Best Album of the Year for “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever” and Top 10.
Some members were in tears as they received the album award.
“Army, thank you,” shouted Rap Monster, adding it is the best award they have received since their debut.
Girl group TWICE took home the Best Song of the Year award for “Cheer Up,” which racked up 11 TV music show trophies in the second half of the year. The group also won the Top 10 artist award.
Other winners of the Top 10 award were Block B’s Zico, Akdong Musician, GFriend, Mamamoo, BewhY, Red Velvet and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon.
