GMA Network has signed on to officially co-air the 65th Miss Universe pageant on January 30, 2017.
GMA Network vice president for program management Jose Mari “Joey” Abacan signed a contract with Solar Entertainment president and CEO Wilson Tieng for the live broadcast of the international beauty pageant on GMA 7.
A replay will also be aired in the channel at a later time.
“We embrace [the partnership] with open arms,” Abacan told GMA News.
Aside from GMA, TV5 has also forged airing rights agreement with Solar Entertainment for the main event at the Mall of Asia Arena.
TV5 will also exclusively air the preliminary events—the swimsuit competition on January 27 and the long gown competition on January 29.
Solar’s ETC channel will also air the pageant, which will also be beamed to 190 countries around the world, Solar Entertainment chief Tieng said. “It’ll be a showcase of what we can do and how beautiful the country is.”
In the United States, TV network FOX will air the pageant in primetime on January 29.
It will also be streamed on the Miss Universe website, the Miss Universe app and the pageant’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
