Mariah throws ‘I don’t know her’ bomb at Demi, Ariana

Carey responds to Demi Lovato’s throwing shade at the diva

In true diva fashion, Mariah Carey added Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande to her own list of celebrities she does not know.

The singer went forthright when, in her guest appearance on the Plead the Fifth segment of Watch What Happens Live talk show, host Andy Cohen asked her reaction to Lovato apparently throwing shade at her on social media in defense of fellow singer Grande.

Cohen quoted Lovato’s response to a meme negatively comparing Grande with Carey: “And she said ‘Mariah is a legend, and she’s so talented, but she disses people, it’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer [Lopez]’,” then asked Carey.

The diva replied: “I don’t know her either, and so I wouldn’t say anything to her.

“She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, ‘Here’s my opinion, what do you think about it?’ That’s how you handle s***, okay?” a visibly irate Carey added.

Cohen also asked Carey about Grande, who is said to have taken inspiration from her. She answered, “Honestly, I’m not familiar. I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music.”

In the same interview, Carey was all praises with other contemporary pop stars like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and, most fondly, Britney Spears.

In June, Lovato defended Grande from people who often compare her with Carey. After getting several backlash from Carey’s fans, Lovato left an indirect statement that seemed to target Mariah Carey.

“Jen keeps it classy but I’m not afraid to say shit. The woman is mean for no reason,” Billboard reported about Lovato’s comment on an Instagram post.

Lovato also said, “Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely.”

Carey first dropped her infamous “I don’t know her” put-down when she was asked about Jennifer Lopez back in the early 2000s.

Years later, Carey appeared to have met her comeuppance when Lopez was caught checking her Instagram while the former was performing at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. (Clarissa Mae Roldan)
