BTS (also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan) is becoming an established boy group in the international scene, after gaining new recognition from American music chart Billboard.
Their latest album “Wings” was named as the best K-pop album of the year.
Billboard recognized the group as one of K-pop’s competitive music producers of today.
“Co-writing and producing on nearly every track, the K-pop phenoms proved how they can compete with top pop acts,” Billboard stated.
All members of the group—Rap Monster, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and J-Hope—participate in composing and producing the group’s songs.
Wings climbed to the Top 30 spot right after its release at the Billboard 200.
The music chart also described the group’s music as ‘forward-thinking’, citing their smash hit Blood, Sweat & Tears’s EDM sound and lyrics that tackle ‘adulthood and mental health issues.’
“If anyone is confused about BTS’ global appeal, one listen to Wings will make that inherently clear,” Billboard said.
The group has proved their global success, after being acclaimed by Forbes as Twitter’s most retweeted music group in March 2016. Because of this, Twitter launched an emoji featuring the group. They were the first K-pop group to have a Twitter emoji.
