Sunshine Dizon is now in a good place after dropping the charges she filed in court against her estranged husband.
“It was hard, it was painful, but I have two kids and they need their father,” she said of her decision.
The actress made clear, though, “My fight doesn’t end there.”
Asked to clarify, she retorted, “I don’t want to talk about it at this point, but I will make sure you’ll hear about it.”
At the moment, the actress is busy with “Ika-6 Na Utos,” a soap airing on GMA that for many people, seems to echo her real-life situation.
Well, does it?
“Siguro may similarities ng konti pero it wasn’t patterned naman after my life story. Ibang-iba naman itong palabas na ito.”
“Ika-6 Na Utos” has Sunshine playing the role of Emma, a wife fighting to keep her husband who has entered into a relationship with another woman.
“I took on the role simply because it’s challenging,” Sunshine said, noting, “Out-of-the-box characters ang hilig ko talagang gampanan kahit dati pa.”
That said, the actress pointed out she is far removed from Emma.
“Sa totoo lang there are times that I feel like I want to tell her, ‘Emma ’wag kang tanga,’” she said with a laugh. “Pero, of course, it’s a soap and we just have to do our jobs.”
Sunshine and other key cast members took part in this year’s Sinulog Festival in Cebu. She looked radiant throughout the jaunt, seemingly unmindful of the frenzied timetable that includes mall shows and interviews.
“Honestly, I like it that I’m busy,” she shared. “Kasi I have my bad days, where, I’m like so depressed that I feel like I don’t want get out of my bed. But because of work, I get to push myself to go out there and just, you know, have fun.”
“I simply choose to be positive kasi,” she added. “Of course, hindi ako robot na walang nararamdaman but I choose to use my energy wisely. Yes, I still have lots of questions in my head but I tell myself that everything happens for a reason and that God has a plan for me so I just hold on to that and smile.”
The 33-year old enjoys hobnobbing with fans, whom she deems “loyal and supportive.”
“Lalo na sa social media, they make an effort talaga to make me feel how much they love me, how much they support me. It feels good kasi, somehow, I don’t feel like I’m alone sa pinagdadaanan ko and I’m grateful for that.”
Sunshine considers “Ika-6 Na Utos” a blessing as it lends a voice to suffering wives.
“Actually, it’s heartbreaking to read some of the comments they post,” the actress said. “To know that I somehow inspire them makes the hard work worthwhile.”
Of late, Sunshine has been receiving much praise for looking svelte. However, she downplayed notions losing weight is an effect of or her way of coping with heartbreak.
“Naku hindi, coincidental lang talaga,” Sunshine shared. “I did it for myself. To be honest, okay pa kami (ng husband) ko when I signed to (BeloMedical Clinic’s) program.”
With some saying she looks more than ready to find new love, Sunshine simply smiled and said, “Wala pa sa isip ko ’yan sa ngayon.”
“Not naman na I’m closing my doors na permanently on the possibility but I really am not thinking about it. Focus muna talaga ako sa children ko.”
But what if Cupid comes knocking anew anyway?
“I really don’t know,” Sunshine said, rather enigmatically. “I guess, I will just have to cross that bridge when I get there.” (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
