2NE1’s farewell song “Goodbye” has debuted on top of the Billboard charts.
The group’s final single topped the World Digital Song Sales chart with 5,000 downloads based on Nielsen Music data, according to Billboard.
“Goodbye” is 2NE1’s second song to reach No. 1 on that chart.
In 2014, the group’s “I Am the Best” topped the World Digital Songs segment where it spent 120 weeks on the chart.
“This is 2NE1’s fifth-largest sales week ever for a song, and second-largest debut week. Their only larger debut week was with ‘I Love You,’ when it entered with a little more than 5,000 in 2012,” according to Billboard.
On the World Digital Song Sales chart, “Goodbye” is 2NE1’s 16th song to make it to the top 10 and 20th song to enter the chart.
When the song was released last Jan. 21, it zoomed to the No. 1 spot on iTunes chart in the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia.
On YouTube, the music video for “Goodbye” has garnered 10.51 million views to date.
On the Korean TV talk show “Talking Street” last month, Dara said 2NE1’s disbandment last November “was really shocking.”
“At first I denied it and got really depressed. But now I’m starting to take it in,” she revealed.
Asked how is she getting along with the other members of the group, Dara said, “It’s the same after the disbandment.”
“We always contact and meet with each other. We still talk to each other, eat together and get along as close friends,” she added.
Dara said “Goodbye” was written by CL after Minzy left the group but was not released then.
