To be young, successful and good-looking, what more could a man ask for?
Well, not much, actually.
Bulletin Entertainment spoke with three of GMA’s hottest male stars recently, namely Dennis Trillo, Dion Ignacio and Kiko Estrada, and they were one in saying they’re more than happy with what they have.
“Ang sa akin siguro magtuloy-tuloy lang ’yung work, okay na ako,” Dion intoned.
“Yeah, ako din,” said Dennis. “I mean wala naman na akong hinihiling pa. Hindi rin naman kasi ako into material things talaga eh. Kung ano man siguro I want lang na parati akong healthy, ’yung family ko, ’yun lang.”
Kiko, meanwhile, related, “I live my life to the fullest, giving 110 % in everything I do so, siguro at this point, I would like more challenges in terms of my career, more exciting acting opportunities.”
The three are cast in the telefantasya series “Mulawin Vs. Ravena” set for airing in April.
At the moment, they are busy preparing for their respective roles on the show.
“Nagsasanay ako sa malalim na Tagalog words,” said Dion. “Nabasa ko kasi ang script at ang lalalim ng mga Tagalog terms na ginamit.
So, inisip ko I have to brush up on that. Ta’s nagpapapayat din ako.”
“I’m preparing myself physically,” related Dennis. “Alam ko kasi based on my experience working on the original ‘Mulawin’ series na very demanding ang show physically. Madalas naka-harness kami for flying sequences tsaka maraming fight scenes so ’yun ang tinututukan ko.”
“I did research on the old show,” said Kiko. “Did you know my dad (actor Gary Estrada) was also part of it as Rasmus? So, for me, there’s parang legacy to uphold. I promise fans they won’t be disappointed with my performance here.”
The three expressed excitement working on the epic fantasy series, something they deem a “huge honor.”
“May history ang show, at marami itong mga fans kaya nga medyo kabado pero excited ako,” said Dion. “Feeling ko napakaswerte ko na nasama ako sa cast nito.”
“Ang challenge dito is to make it believable for our audience,” said Dennis. “Siyempre fantasy ito, like kami, mga winged creatures so make-believe siya but we made a point to believe in our characters. Kailangan panindigan mo eh. Dapat ikaw ang unang maniwala sa possibility na it could be real for it to be effective.”
Dennis downplayed the notion that he carries the success of the show on his shoulders.
“Hindi naman siguro, ang bigat naman noon,” he said, smiling. “Team effort pa rin ito. Thankful lang ako dahil ang ganda ng cast namin.”
Kiko shared, “This is my very first fantasy series so excited talaga ako. Honored din ako to be part of it dahil nga ’yung dad ko kasama din doon sa original. I aim to give it my best.”
Dion revealed he’ll be playing kontrabida on the show.
“Ang character ko dito si Siklab. Ravena siya, bad guy, so very challenging,” he said.
Dennis is mum on his character, saying simply he’ll be a Mulawin.
Kiko, on the other hand, shared his character’s name is Rafael.
“Ravena ako dito but not exactly a bad guy. Parang ano siya, gray character, he could go either way and I like it. Mas interesting siya for me,” he said.
Busy as they are with showbiz activities, the trio also dabbles in different interests on their spare time.
Dion bought a siomai franchise, which has been doing well.
“Less than a year pa lang kami pero maganda ang kinalabasan,” he said.
He is also busy with out of town shows.
“Halos naikot ko na ang buong Pilipinas,” he said, laughing.
Not that he is complaining.
“Masarap siya, kumikita ka na nakakapag-sightseeing ka pa,” he said.
Among places he visited he would like to go back to is Palawan.
“Ang ganda du’n eh, tahimik pa,” he related.
Dennis, on his part, usually spends his spare time with family and loved ones.
“Usually bahay lang or sometimes we travel,” he said.
Business-wise, Dennis is looking forward to producing movies.
“I want to work with the likes of Erik Matti and Dan Villegas but not as artista but as producer,” he shared.
Kiko is all work.
“I dunno, I just want to keep working. I want to try everything,” he said.
“For now, I’m busy doing movies,” he added. “’Pwera Usog’ just came out then I’m currently working on a new one titled ‘Songs In The Rain,’ an adaptation of a Wattpad book. Although I know I would be very busy the whole year with ‘Mulawin Vs. Ravena’ I’m not closing my doors on any opportunity that may arise.” (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
