The Film Development Council of The Philippines (FDCP) congratulated Lav for the win via Twitter on April 17, posting, “Congratulations to Lav Diaz who won Best Director for his film “Ang Babaeng Humayo” at Dublin Film Critics Circle Awards!”

Meanwhile, “Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)” lead star Charo Santos-Concio was bestowed a Special Mention Award at the 17th Festival Internacional de Cine Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Canary Islands.

The film is one of 13 that competed at the festival’s Official Selection Section.

“Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)” is a 226-minute black and white film about a school teacher who spent 30 years in a correctional facility for a crime she did not commit.

It won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the 73rd Venice Film Festival last year.

Produced by Cinema One Originals and Sine Olivia Pilipinas, “Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)” also features actor John Lloyd Cruz in a supporting role.
