Filipinos are known to be one of the most family-oriented people in the world.
It should be said, however, it’s not only blood that binds.
Take Lovi Poe, the daughter of the late “King of Philippine Movies” Fernando Poe, Jr. with former beauty queen Rowena Moran, as example. She may not have blood relations with Sen. Grace Poe, adopted daughter of his father, but she loves her like a real sister.
Recently, Lovi made time to attend the launch of Grace’s son, Brian Poe Llamanzares, first collection of watches for the Time Master Brand.
We caught up with Lovi at the event and we learned she came straight from work.
“Talagang minake sure ko na makahabol ako dito,” she said. “Narinig ko rin kasi na talagang pinaghirapan niya (Brian) ito. Nu’ng isang taon pa kasi, and he was very hands-on particularly sa designs.”
Lovi is busy working on GMA’s new trending fantaserye “Mulawin Vs. Ravena” as Magindara and she couldn’t ask for more.
“I’m very happy sa mga blessings, lalo na sa career,” she said. “I’m really excited din kasi ito ’yung first fantaserye ko.”
The 28-year-old admitted she is still adjusting to everything about the show at this point but she is thankful her co-actors are helpful.
“Kasi hirap ako sa Tagalog, sobrang lalim kasi. Pero over all ay masarap ’yung pakiramdam as lahat naman ng katrabaho ko ay talagang mahuhusay at tsaka mga kabigan ko din,” she explained.
Lovi also has an upcoming movie under Regal Entertainment titled “Woke Up Like This” with Rocco Nacino, whom she had a relationship with for two years.
Note the two only had closure recently.
“I guess it’s something that we wanted, it is something that we needed,” she said.
She hopes for Rocco to find love soon.
“I’m gonna be so happy for him, whoever he’s gonna end up with,” she shared.
Lovi choose to not discuss the real score with her and alleged Filipino-French boyfriend Chris Johnson.
“Ayoko munang bigyan ng label… I guess you’ll just know if it happens,” she said. “So for now all I can say is we’re good. We’re learning from each other, and we’re not rushing into any.”
She appreciates Chris’ effort to keep their relationship private.
“Mas gusto ko rin kasi talaga na private lahat eh,” Lovi maintained. “Now I post less, I only post on social media when I have to, when I want to.”
Business with purpose
Meanwhile Lovi’s nephew, Brian, is also doing well in life.
The 25-year-old, who is the prime mover behind Time Master, related why he choose to enter the watch business.
“’Yung watches kasi ’di ba it’s like a tradition na it’s handed down from generation to generation? And it is also a passion of mine eh, I learned to appreciate fine time pieces through my dad.”
Note that Time Master has partnered with MovEd, a charity that makes quality education possible for children from underprivileged communities.
“With every watch sold, may mag-benefit na Pinoy. May scholarship grant kami for grade school students,” he revealed. “Parang it’s business with a purpose.”
The set is limited only to 1500 pieces.
“After that, that’s it. We’re not gonna make anymore. We’re gonna start with another style. We wanna make it exclusive, we wanna make the people who buy it feel like this is their watch,” Brian explained.
“I wanted it to be the kind of watch you buy when you get your first job, you know parang masaya ka, may konting pera ka, naisip mo ‘I need to reward myself.’ But I don’t want them to feel that they spent that much.”
