Are you the next Miss Scuba Philippines?
If you are a Filipina passionate about the preservation and protection of our marine diversity and resources, empowered to take a stand on ocean justice, then you could be a good bet for Miss Scuba Philippines 2017.
“Miss Scuba Philippines has a deep-rooted advocacy that is devoted to protect, preserve and help save our oceans and their biodiversity,” said Cindy Madduma, the first Filipina to win the title of Miss Scuba International in 2015, during the launch of the pageant in Pasay City recently.
Screening for the official candidates of the beauty pageant has started. The second screening will be held on Sunday, Aug. 13.
Aspiring candidates must be single, female by birth, a citizen or permanent resident of the Philippines, aged between 18 and 28 years old during the international competition, of good moral character, at least 5’5 in height without heels, in good health, both mental and physical, and willing to learn scuba diving.
“It is distinct from other beauty pageants because it focuses on the importance of the preservation and protection of the Philippine marine resources,” said Madduma, who was appointed new national director of Miss Scuba Philippines.
“Saving Ocean Through Beauty” is the core principle of the organization, said Madduma. “It upholds not only showcasing physical beauty but also provides the necessity for our candidates to have a heart for the oceans.”
Madduma said that she took the challenge with greater responsibility of forging on as instrument of change, a symbol of hope and the voice of the oceans not only in the Philippines but in the international community.
