Donnalyn Bartolome has, no doubt, arrived.
The YouTube Sensation is currently busy working on several projects including “The Kasambahays” on SariSari Channel, and “Oh My Guardians” on Viva TV.
Lucky girl, indeed. Who would’ve thought a bored teen could go as far?
Yes, Donnalyn admitted to me she started posting videos on YouTube simply out of boredom.
She related, “I started posting videos because that time I got nothing else to do. I was taking care of my siblings and when they fall asleep I usually get bored. Then one day I decided to get creative and created my first video.”
Donnalyn’s videos are mostly of her performing popular tunes.
“I sing and rap on my videos thinking teens who are as bored as me would like it. I never thought it would lead to this. I did not post those videos to be a mainstream artist,” she maintained.
Actually, it was Viva big boss Vic del Rosario who thought she could go beyond YouTube. Donnalyn, of course, could only be grateful.
“I am actually beyond grateful to Boss Vic for giving me this break. Now I get to work with stars that I just used to watch on television,” she said.
Only on her early twenties, Donnalyn’s videos have garnered a cumulative 40 million views. This does not include videos posted by Viva.
Quite the looker, Donnalyn also has 849,000 followers on Instagram. She also has two devoted fandom dubbed Donnalynspired and the DjB Sweeties.
The most recent mini movie project she posted on YouTube, “Happy Breakup,” has already garnered six million views.
“It started as a song that I wrote while working on ‘Tasya Fantasya.’ We had a lot of time waiting for production to set-up so I took the opportunity to write a song. I love being productive on tengga time. People got interested with it because of the title alone. They thought it ironic because, really, what is so happy about a breakup? I was very happy that Boss Vic decided to produce the mini movie. It was a way for me to explain my song to more people.”
“The Kasambahays” will start airing this September. Apart from Donnalyn, it also stars Debbie Garcia, Karen Toyoshima and yours truly. I play a strict and crazy employer on the series.
As for “Oh My Guardians” she shared, “It’s something nice, sweet and fun. Alonzo Muhlach plays my naught guardian and new child star Elia (Ilano) plays my nice guardian.”
