The almighty single is back with releases from big names in the international music scene.
Taylor Swift has just put out “Ready For It.” The song is marked by elongated synth bass and signature hook in the chorus.
Ex-One Direction Zayn Malik returns with a strong one in “Dusk Till Dawn” featuring Sia. This piano-decked ballad is a rising number that showcases Malik’s other musical predilections. His vocals on the song serve as robust base for Sia’s soaring lines.
“Too Good At Goodbyes,” the initial track from Sam Smith’s second album, has proved to be worth the wait. Those yearning falsettos and that classic Motown-soul feel still work its magic. Smith, like Adele, can definitely squeeze out all the feelings from every line he sings.
U2 may have already entered its classic rock act phase, but judging by the crackling energy of “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” the band can still sound as if they’ve just discovered the healing power of rock. The track conjures images of wide open roads and the feeling of freedom that, we think, makes rock what it is.
Finally, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is back on the recording scene with the release of the preview single “Tadhana.”
Just the tip of a whopping 30-track album ahead, “Tadhana” has that nice ’90s pop feel. Clean yet exacting, the songbird’s re-working of the Up Dharma Down hit is an exercise in restraint and in picking just the right moment to let ’er rip.
