Epic vibe at ‘Road To Ultra Philippines’

EDM or Electronic Dance Music was in full effect at Ultra Worldwide’s “Road To Ultra Philippines.” Held recently at the Mall of Asia Arena, third time is the charm indeed, headlined by superstars Zedd and Hardwell that night.

The show opened with our very own Deuce and Marc Marasigan. The former is first Pinay DJ to represent the country at the Zouk Out Prelude. In “Road,” she showcased medleys consisting of electronica songs. As for Marc, a lawyer-entrepreneur, he dished out the dopest beats.

International DJ Sam Feldt took the audiences back to summer, in contrast to Rezz who was more into chill beats. Getter delivered mainly remixes based on rap numbers.

Some six hours later, EDM superstar Zedd proved good things come to those who wait. He presented most of his popular songs straight up, namely “Find You,” “Clarity,” “Get Low,” and “Stay,” among others. We got hyped!

Not to be outdone, Hardwell brought the house down with his popular pieces including “Mad World” and “Creatures Of The Night.”

To anyone who’s not attended such a concert, it felt, in a word, electrifying.

Some of the girls sat on the shoulders of their guy friends, waving their hands to the beat or capturing the magic on their mobile phones.

Ultranauts brought with them different accessories (e.g. LED bracelet and light sticks) to, may we borrow Adele, set fire to the rain. Some had shoes with soles that flash multi-colored lights.

The visual effect was remarkable. The aztec patterns on the LED screen that transitioned to the rhythm of songs were hypnotic.

Were there smoke, fire and confetti? You bet.

Pinoy celebrities who watched the show included Jhake Vargas, Inah de Belen, Phoemela Baranda, and Luis Hontiveros, to name a few.

Till next year, Ultranauts!
