Miss World-Philippines Laura Victoria Lehmann, Miss Multinational Philippines Sophia Senoron, First Princess Glyssa Leiann Perez, Second Princess Zhaniethia Jimenez, and Miss Hispanoamericana Filipinas Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez signed a movie contract with the company last week. With them on the presidential table were Regal matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde and MWP franchise owner, Arnold Vegafria.

Winwyn is set to compete in Bolivia this November. She departs this Thursday.

The beauty queen-actress hopes to use her knowledge in acting as advantage.

“Ang reyna kasi mahilig sa live TV interview and performance,” she shared. “So I think I will be very relaxed especially since I enjoy being in front of the cameras.”

She said her schedule is packed with TV guest appearances and she aims to shine in all of them.

“Though hindi ko sila maintindihan masyado, mag-effort ako magsalita,” Winwyn said.

Though the pageant has no talent portion, some of the candidates were still asked to perform on live TV. Winwyn volunteered to do a dance number.

“Para siyang ‘Sunday PinaSaya’ but not sure pa kung tuloy as it depends on the airtime na ibibigay ng TV show pero nag-prepare na ako ng sayaw ko,” she enthused.

Positive vibes

The 25-year-old beauty queen is nervous over the competition, but beyond winning, all she prays for is “ayokong ipahiya ’yung country ko.”

“Siguro I wanna win but (more than that) I don’t want na ipahiya. Sa performance ko kasi magbe-base ’yan eh, so kahit hindi ako manalo, kung maganda naman ’yung performance ko hindi tayo mapapahiya.”

She believes that if she does her best, Filipinos will be proud of her regardless of the outcome in the pageant.

The actress is thankful her family is ever supportive. Her brother Charles Yeoj will keep her company in Bolivia.

Supporter

Winwyn admitted that among her sacrifices right now is not seeing enough of her parents as “every day I train, I do something.”

Good thing her boyfriend and fellow GMA star Mark Herras makes it a point to visit her despite both their busy schedules.

“Si Mark lagi ako pinupuntahan,” she divulged. “He’s gonna be with me sa photo shoot.”

Another reason Mark is maximizing their quality time is that Winwyn is planning to go on vacation in New York after the competition.

“Whatever happens I’m going to rest lang kasi nakakakapagod rin naman,” she related.

But isn’t she sad that Mark won’t be able to join and support her on finals night?

“I actually told him that it’s okay if he will not gonna come dahil ’pag nundu’n kasi siya mas iisipin ko kung anong ginagawa niya kasi wala masyadong Pinoy du’n. Kung anong ginagawa niya, sinong kasama niya, if nabo-bored siya, ganu’n,” she said.

Prepared

Winwyn did her homework as far as the pageant is concerned.

Among her preparations is learning Spanish, quite challenging, indeed.

“It’s hard dahil sa dami naming ginagawa, with all the training and everything I have to prepare everything – (US visa) papers ko pa kaya hindi ako maka-focus,” she added.

Winwyn is also focusing on owning the walk.

“Kailangan meron something different kasi na maipakita – the way I look, my makeup, my hair,” she said.

The actress is going for a clean look on finals night.

“Pero kailangan ko lang din mag-shine in a way ng konti para lang mapansin,” she related.

Will she use an interpreter during the Q & A portion? She said the organizer cleared each candidate will have one, and, yes, she will use hers.

“Kasi a lot of people now are expecting me to answer in Spanish but I wouldn’t want to risk it kasi parang ’pag na-mali mo ’yung isang word baka ma-offend ko pa sila,” she explained. (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
