The first The Seoul Awards ceremony was held Oct. 27 honoring outstanding movies, dramas and actors.
In the drama division, the grand prize was awarded to “Stranger” starring Jo Seung-woo and Bae Doo-na. It edged out “Defendant,” “Fight My Way,” “Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People” and “Woman of Dignity.”
The acting awards went to Ji Sung, best actor, “Defendant”; Park Bo-young, best actress, “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”; Jung Sang Hoon, best supporting actor, “Woman of Dignity”; and Honey Lee, best supporting actress, “Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People.”
Kim Min Suk, who became popular after appearing on “Descendants of the Sun,” won best new actor while Yoon So-hee took home the best new actress for “Ruler: Master of the Mask.”
The Popularity Awards went to Kim Sejeong of “School 2017” and Park Hyung Sik of “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.”
In the film division, “Anarchist from Colony” took home the grand prize. The film centered on the life of independence activist Park Yeol, played by actor Lee Je-hoon. The movie won the award over “The Battleship Island,” “A Taxi Driver,” “The King” and “The Merciless.”
It was a proud moment for Na Moon Hee, 75, who bagged the best actress trophy for her role in “I Can Speak.” Song Kang Ho, star of “A Taxi Driver,” won best actor.
The best supporting awards were awarded to Kim Joo-hyuk of “Confidential Assignment” and Lee Jung-hyun of “The Battleship Island.”
Ryu Jun Yeol, who rose to fame via the drama “Reply 1988,” won best new actor while Choi Hee Seo of “Anarchist from Colony” bagged the best new actress award.
Girls’ Generation member Yoona of “Confidential Assignment” and Siwan of “The Merciless” won the Popularity Awards.
