LAST FOUR ENTRIES: The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Screening Committee will announce the last four films to complete the Magic 8 entries on Nov. 17.
The same committee set to Oct. 30 the deadline for submitting a copy of the finished film to the MMFF.
Based on an informal survey among colleagues, the following eight films are among the frontliners in the stiff competition for the final four slots in the MMFF in December. These last four films are being judged according to the finished product itself.
In contrast, the first four films approved by the MMFF as official entries to the annual film fest were accepted based on their script alone. These are: ‘‘Ang Panday’’ (fantasy-drama) starring Coco Martin and Mariel de Leon, directed by Coco Martin; ‘‘Meant To Beh’’ (comedy), with Vic Sotto, Dawn Zulueta and an all-star cast, from M-Zet Productions; ‘‘Gandarrapiddo: The Revengers’’ (comedy) starring Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla and Pia Wurtzbach, from Star Cinema; and ‘‘Almost Is Not Enough’’ (comedy-drama) starring Derek Ramsay and Jennylyn Mercado, from Quantum Productions.
