Sooyoung, member of K-pop group Girls’ Generation, has found a new home after leaving SM Entertainment.
She has signed a contract with Echo Global Group, an agency that has Daniel Henney as one of its talents.
Sooyoung, Seohyun and Tiffany left SM Entertainment last month after they opted not to have a new contract with the agency that became their home since debuting in Girls’ Generation in 2007.
Their decision came after the girl group celebrated their tenth anniversary last August by releasing a new album “Holiday Night.”
Echo Global Group vowed to fully support Sooyoung’s career event to the extent of letting her continue to be part of Girls’ Generation.
“Since she has been loved for so long as a member of Girls’ Generation, we will support her activities in the group if conditions are met,” said the agency, according to Yonhap News.
When it was announced that the three left SM Entertainment, fans were wondering if that meant the disbandment of Girls’ Generation. SM Entertainment refuted this, saying it was not thinking of ending the group.
Sooyoung is currently starring in the drama “Man In The Kitchen” along with On Joo-wan, Seo Hyo-rim and Park Jin-woo. The series started in September and will run until 50 episodes.
She won an excellence award at the MBC Drama Awards and 8th Korea Drama Awards for her acting in the drama “My Spring Days.”
