2017’s top K-pop music videos on YouTube in Korea revealed

YouTube has released its year-end list of the most popular videos on the website for 2017.

In South Korea, the most popular K-pop music video this year is K-pop girl group TWICE’s “Knock Knock.” Uploaded on Feb. 19, it has garnered 156.39 million views to date. TWICE’s “Signal,” uploaded on May 15, music video placed second with 126.6 million hits.

In third place is solo artist IU’s “Palette” MV, which has accumulated 63.44 million since April 21, followed by Korean rapper Psy’s “I Luv It” and “New Face” MVs.

“I Luv It” was released on May 10 and has so far received 66.26 million views while “New Face” has 94.12 million hits so far.

Fifth is girl group Red Velvet’s “Red Flavor” MV, which has 58.96 million views since July 8 followed by Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” which garnered 2.82 billion views globally since Jan. 30.

Ranked eight is Black Pink’s “As If It’s Your Last” with 194 million hits since June 22 followed by IU’s “Through the Night” with 39 million views since March 24, and Akdong Musician’s “Last Goodbye” with 26 million views since Jan. 2.

On the other hand, boy band BTS’ music video “DNA” is included under YouTube’s “Rewind 2017.”

“BTS grabbed viewers attention with colorful hair, dance moves, and backdrops, making it the biggest debut by a K-Pop group ever. We couldn’t look away from their music video for ‘DNA, and the tune racked up over 100 million views,” according to YouTube.

The top trending music videos globally of 2017 are: Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente,” Maluma‘s “Felices los 4, Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like,” Chris Jeday’s “Ahora Dice ft. J. Balvin, Ozuna, Arcángel,” El Amante’s “Nicky Jam,” Jason Derulo’s “Swalla feat. Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign,” DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne” and Enrique Iglesias’ “Subeme la Radio ft. Descemer Bueno, Zion & Lennox.”
