A few weeks back, we attended a rare occasion where esteemed guests from the Chinese business community showcased their discriminating taste in wine at the launch of Château Quintus, the first vintage wine produced by Domaine Clarence Dillon of France.
Held at Finestra at Solaire Resort Hotel and Casino, the wine tasting was organized by Liquor Kingdom’s husband and wife tandem of Rudy Ngo and Antoinette Nisce-Ngo. Liquor Kingdom is the exclusive distributor of Château Quintus in the Philippines. Château Quintus’ vintage 2011 wine was introduced to everyone by none other than Estate Manager François Capdemourlin who flew all the way from Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine in South-Western France for the occasion.
We knew the pretty Antoinette from her other business endeavor, the Nisce Dermatology Center – but that is another item altogether. That night was about her husband’s passion in the business of distributing high-end wines to the elite Chinese business community.
In our brief chat with Rudy, he told us that his business may not be as big an operation as that of the other wine distributors in the country, but catering to his loyal clientele, it is easy to surmise the “bottom line” could most certainly equal, if not surpass, the revenues charted by the other high profile wine businesses.
The couple’s closest friends were ably represented that night. We came with our show business friends columnist Jojo Gabinete, actress Diana Zubiri and Cong. Alfred Vargas.
Some of those whom we spotted having a grand time that night were Facial Care and Marie France’s husband and wife George Siy and Emelie Coliangco Siy, Lamoiyan Corp.’s (makers of Hapee Toothpaste) Dr. Cecilio Pedro, JG Summit Holdings’ James Go, PAL director John Tan, Times Paint Corp.’s Reginald Yu, Tire Asia Group’s Hubert Chua, former model Chris Badiola, and the couple’s friends from the Anvil Business Club and JCI Philippines.
