GMA’s romantic-comedy series “The One That Got Away” sees Dennis Trillo being paired with not just one but three leading ladies – a first in his 18 years in show business.
On the show, Dennis is Liam, a smart and handsome entrepreneur who comes from a wealthy family and lives in their ancestral home with his nanny. He likes all things vintage and he is an animal-lover. He likes women with sense of humor, which is the common trait among his exes, namely Zoe, Darcy and Alex.
Zoe is played by Rhian Ramos while Lovi Poe and Max Collin bring life to the characters Alex and Darcy, respectively.
Talking to some members of the press a few days ago, Dennis expressed excitement over working with the three. He shared how thankful he is to have been entrusted with another project by the network.
The series serves as “refresher” for Dennis, this after doing intense action on “Mulawin Vs. Ravena.”
“Napaka-swerte ko lang talaga,” he said, smiling.
The actor describes Rhian as a “cool chick” and “one of the boys,” while Lovi is the “most serious dramatic actress.”
What about Max?
Mabait talaga.”
This early, Dennis said if there’s one lesson the show will impart to viewers, it is about treasuring every moment with your partner.
“Bawat relasyon mararanasan natin ’yan eh.
“The One That Got Away” also stars Ivan Dorschner, Migo Adecer, Jason Abalos, Bembol Roco, Snooky Serna, Luz Valdez, Ervic Vijandre, Ayra Mariano, Nar Cabico, and Ashley Rivera, among others.
Under the direction of Mark De La Cruz with Conrado Peru, it airs beginning today right after “Kambal, Karibal” on GMA Telebabad.
Is he one?
Despite being “the one that got away” on screen, Dennis demurred notions art imitates life in his case.
How is he as a boyfriend? Well, according to Dennis, he is “very maalaga” yet “medyo seloso.”
“Siyempre kasi ayaw mong mawala ’yung mahal mo,” he explained.
The actor likes to keep his love life private as much as possible.
“Basta ako bawat relasyon naman (na pinapasok ko), seryoso talaga ako,” he said.
Does Dennis have a “TOTGA?” “Wala na. Bumalik na eh,” was his reply that got some of the press people swooning.
Well, no need for guessing: Dennis is happily in love with Jennylyn Mercado.
He said their relationship is in the “happy stage,” where they just enjoy every moment of being together.
Jennylyn inspires him a lot – she’s priceless, that’s how he put it.
“Masaya lang kami pareho. Wala kaming tinatago.
What about marriage, someone asked. “At the right time,” Dennis shot back.
Don’t get him wrong, Dennis believes in marriage. It’s just that he doesn’t want to rush into it.
After being together for a year, the Kapuso couple broke up in 2011. It was four years later that they rekindled romance. Dennis shared that what happened in the past, taught them a thing or two about being in a relationship.
“Maturity,” he noted. Maraming kaming natutunan from that (breakup).
Asked if he sees Jennylyn as “the one” for him, Dennis said: “Hindi ko na hahayaang mawala ’to.”
Dennis said he got the best Christmas gift thanks to his girlfriend though he refused to divulge more details.
“Pero sobrang galante niya,” he said.
The actor hopes for another blessed year. He wishes for more projects and more out-of-the-country tours with his loved ones.
“May pelikula ako this year pero secret lang muna,” he said.
2018 is a Year of the Dog and he is a dog-lover.
“Therapy namin siya (dog). Lakas maka-goodvibes eh. Lakas makapag-pasaya lalo na kapag alam mong mahal ka rin nila,” he said.
Take note, “nila.”
