At 48, Robin ready to bare more skin for art’s sake

First it was his hit movie “Unexpectedly Yours” late last year, then came his controversial exchange with a Korean contestant on “Pilipinas Got Talent” over the weekend. Had enough of Robin Padilla in the headlines for now? Well, you just can’t ignore this one – the action superstar had just said that if it’s absolutely necessary, he is ever-ready to do the full monty.

“Pwede din naman akong frontal,” he casually said to everyone’s amusement when asked if he would bare his behind on cam given orders.
He feels that at his age, he could challenge himself more as actor.

Recall that in “Unexpectedly Yours,” Robin was asked by director Cathy Garcia-Molina to do a delicate scene.

Sabi ko, ‘Sharon, panoorin mo ako talaga ha,’” he recounted with a laugh.

The actor pointed out he was already easing into retirement when ABS-CBN asked him to play the character Leo Tabayoyong on “Sana Dalawa Ang Puso.” His soap before that, in fact, was way back 2013, “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw.”

“Sana Dalawa Ang Puso” is about Lisa and Mona (both played by Jodi Sta. Maria), two different people with identical faces but are both facing big ordeals in their lives.

Lisa is known to be a strict and hardworking boss in their family business, the Laureano Group of Companies. However, her world suddenly turns upside down when her father, Juancho Laureano (Christopher de Leon), betrothed her to their rival’s son, Martin Co (Richard Yap). In order for her to run away from the responsibility, she decides to hide and live with one of their workers, Leo.

Her doppelganger Mona, on the other hand, who works as a collector of bets in cockfights, is struggling to save his father from peril after the latter got involved in a networking scam.

What will happen when the two cross paths? Will they be able to solve each other’s problems?

“Sana Dalawa Ang Puso” is produced by Star Creatives, the production group behind the successful series “Lobo,” “Imortal,” “Got To Believe,” “Pangako Sa’Yo,” “Forevermore,” among others.

Yo, bro!

Cast alongside Jodi and Richard who both headlined the hit morning soap “Please Be Careful With My Heart” a couple of years ago, Robin felt it was necessary for him and Richard to have a man-to-man talk prior taping.

The meeting allowed them to break the ice.

Mas maganda may rhythm. Gagawa tayo ng show (so dapat) may rhythm.”

Robin is proud he’s about to reach golden age. To him, age is just a number.

He laments that courtesy is one of the traits lacking among the new breed of celebrities.

“Ngayon kasi medyo may kulang doon eh.

Indeed, it’s not like in his “old school days” at all.
