At 22, Yassi Pressman is already a successful millennial. From playing supporting roles, including as third wheel to JaDine’s (James Reid and Nadine Lustre) loveteam, to her pair-up with Coco Martin on “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” this girl is the bomb.
No wonder she is also a sought-after product endorser, including for Samsung’s Galaxy A8 and A8+ android phones. At the launch, Bulletin Entertainment sat down with her during which she shared her thoughts on being the epitome of #GOALS for many young ladies, on strength of five points.
Social media influencer
A quick scroll through her Instagram feed shows Yassi’s fondness for taking and posting photos. With almost four million followers, she documents her family life, travel experiences – and even those sexy bikini snaps.
Like many millennials, Yassi can’t live without cell phones and social media.
“I love taking photos of moments, taking videos na kapag binalikan mo siya, hindi lang ’yung photo ang makikita mo kun’di maaalala mo ’yung feelings, ’yung experience behind it,” she said.
“Like kung lumabas kayo ng friends mo, nag-picture kayo. ’Pag binalikan mo lahat ’yung photo, maalala mo lahat ’yung mga pinag-usapan niyo, ’yung masasayang ginawa niyo at ’yun ang pinaka-heart ng mga photos ko.”
Yassi said social media is her way of connecting with the fans and hopefully become one of their inspirations.
“As a celebrity, meron talagang effort na ingatan or ayusin ’yung mga posts ko. I’m careful on social media – but I’m more careful about my whole life.”
She champions the ladies.
Asked to give inspirational words to women, particularly the youth, Yassi shared, “I think more than anything, just be true to yourself because there’s always a battle for women. There are a lot of things happening in this world, it’s always going to be challenging. Pero at the end of the day, as long as you have good people around you and you don’t lose passion, you can make it. Just hold on to that.”
Want to be sexy like Yassi? Know that she sticks to a healthy diet and exercises regularly. The singer-actress is into calisthenics, boxing, free weights training, Muay Thai, dancing and hiking.
“Actually wala akong masyadong diet. Mahilig nga ako sa sweets. But I eat a lot of fish and tuna. Ang isang tip lang (na pwede kong ibigay) is eat everything in the morning, eat less in the afternoon then ’yung sa night talaga ang dapat bantayan,” she said.
Yassi is a self-confessed daddy’s girl.
No matter how busy her schedules is, she makes sure to bond with him and the rest of her family.
“Kahit gaano ako ka-busy, I believe basta ’pag gusto mo, magagawa mo ng paraan na magka-time ka (para sa kanila),” she disclosed.
“Actually sometimes, umuuwi ako ng 2.am. tapos aabutan ko na inaantay nila ako. Tapos kwentuhan muna kami ng 30 minutes. Nakaka-touch lang talaga.”
Yassi was over the moon to have finally met her half-sister Cara in Florence, Italy late last year.
The actress shared a photo on Instagram of her and her sister Issa both hugging their half-sister Cara, captioned with a heartfelt message.
“’Yung nahanap mo ’yung kapatid mo in the middle word? Sobrang momentous nu’n,” she said. “Never kong aakalain na mami-meet ko siya and kahit anong sabihin ko, I think it won’t be enough to say how happy I am, how heartwarming it was. Ang lakas ng lukso ng dugo eh. I’m so blessed na nahanap ko ’yung isang butas ng buhay ko.”
She finds her sister Cara “very funny” and “young at heart.”
“She’s 50 na. Mahilig siya sa mga adventures. Actually may isa pa kaming sister na nasa Australia. Sana this year ma-meet ko na din siya,” Yassi said.
“Ako kasi hindi ako mahilig mag-expect na tao. Sobrang nagugulat ako kapag may mga blessing na dumadating for me. I’m just very thankful, very blessed,” Yassi said.
Apart from “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” Yassi is cast in “Ang Pambansang Third Wheel,” a movie co-starring Sam Milby and due in theaters in March.
Despite all her success, the artist remains simple and fun to be with.
“I always remind myself kung saan ako nanggaling and despite all of these, sinisigurado ko na I keep my feet on the ground,” she said. “I don’t feel the need to change. Kung ano at sino ako nakilala ng mga tao, ’yun pa din ang pinapakita ko sa lahat hanggang ngayon.”
