Singer-actor Xian Lim jumped ship from Star Magic to Viva Artists Agency (VAA) a few days ago leaving some to wonder if by doing so, he had virtually sunk his bankable pairing with Kim Chiu who remains Kapamilya.
“Definitely nandu’n pa rin naman ’yun,” Xian said referring to KimXi. “Hindi siya matatapos. I mean the KimXi tandem will always be there. I’m sure there’s gonna be a project lined up para sa KimXi.”
He pointed out that they’ve worked on separate projects before and those hardly made a dent on, let alone doomed their onscreen partnership.
“We have an understanding na talaga na hindi naman ito ’yung parang love team na tayo lang talaga, exclusive tayo sa isa’t-isa.”
Xian believes that just like him, Kim also wants to work with other leading men to widen her horizon.
Recall that prior to signing a five-year management contract with VAA, Xian was under Star Magic for almost eight years. Still, he shrugged off the idea that the network might try to split their love team now.
“ABS-CBN has always been my home,” he confidently said. “Nag-usap naman po kasi kami ng maayos (before I left).”
In fact, on Instagram, Xian posted a photo of him with Star Magic Boss Johnny Manahan.
“Thank you to my Star Magic family for an eight year-long journey. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng naibahagi niyo sa akin at sa pagmamahal…,” his captioned read. “No words can express my gratitude. I will always be thankful and grateful sa lahat ng pinagdaanan natin. There will never be any goodbyes, just see you around.”
Asked how Kim reacted upon learning of his decision, Xian made light of it.
“Usually naman kami ni Kim hindi namin pinag-uusapan when it comes to work more on personal kami. Pero nasabi ko naman sa kanya and she’s very supportive naman,” he said.
Did he have to consult her before making the leap?
“Hindi naman. Siyempre nadadaan sa kwentuhan pero parang ‘Kung saan ka masaya (suportahan kita).’”
Indeed. The two traveled to three countries – Denmark, Finland and Sweden – over the holidays. If that does not assuage fans that all’s well in paradise, then nothing will.
“Para makahinga, getting fresh air, enjoying vacation kasi ang tagal na rin naming hindi nagawa ’yun,” Xian said.
Among their memorable experience was seeing the northern lights as “matagal na rin kasi naming pangarap ’yun.”
Although they have been vocal about their feelings for each other, Xian seems not ready to put a label on things.
“Hindi ko pa rin alam. Kahit kami hindi naman pinag-uusapan ’yung score between us. We’re just posting, we’re just sharing everything that we do,” he noted.
But how about their loyal fans who “deserve” to know the truth, a reported egged on.
“Alam nila ’yun,” Xian shot back. “Hindi naman po kami madamot when it comes to pictures. We’re really open sa lahat ng ginagawa namin it’s just that ’yung what you see talaga parang buong puso namin ibinibigay. Shini-share lang talaga namin.”
The new fam
Xian is excited on what 2018 has to offer. After all, a 10-picture contract with Viva is no joke.
He thanked all the fans that have been with him since the beginning. He hopes for doubting Thomases to give him the chance to prove himself.
“Sa akin ang gusto ko lang mag-trabaho and at the same time mas makilala pa ako ng tao,” the singer-actor enthused.
The heartthrob’s first project with Viva is a co-starrer with Sarah Geronimo and James Reid titled “Miss Granny.”According to Xian, he plays a music producer and the love interest of Sarah’s character.
“Being in the same family with them ang laking bagay rin para sa akin,” he said.
Xian revealed he is also set to meet with Viva Records.
“That’s another blessing. I’m very excited na maibahagi ’yung music ko, ’yung take on my artistry in music.”
