If ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya’s newest environmental series “G Diaries” has younger, fresher look, know that it’s intentional.
This time around, TV host Gina Lopez will take viewers to the country’s most scenic destinations to promote eco-tourism with the G Squad in tow. They are Janella Salvador, Maris Racal, Sue Ramirez, Gretchen Ho, Loisa Andalio, Kristel Fulgar, Antoinette Taus, Young JV, Elmo Magalona, Iñigo Pascual, and BoybandPH. Some of the destinations this season are Samar, Lobo in Batangas, Sibuyan Island in Romblon, Iba in Zambales, Kinatarcan Island in Cebu, and even along the iconic Pasig River.
According to the former Department of Environment and Natural Resources secretary, the program will be more focused in showing the efforts of local communities to protect and preserve their natural resources amid progress and development.
“We will do it one community at a time. We will show how each community has done it and show that things can be done,” she was quoted in a release. “We will show the heroism of the community, the government, and businesses, and what can be achieved when people work together from a space of love.”
At a recent press conference, the G Squad members shared their thoughts on being part of the show.
According to BoybandPH, it has changed their outlook in life. They hope that through the program, they will now be able to raise awareness on and became the voice for environmental preservation.
Iñigo wants to influence the youth to care for and help save Mother Earth from further destruction.
“Para sa akin importante na mahalin ’yung sariling atin. That’s the only thing we have. We can only say so much – to call it our own – yet if we don’t love our the environment, how are we gonna grow as a nation?”
Elmo reiterated the thrust of the show by saying viewers will learn about community development partly through ongoing eco-friendly projects.
Gretchen wants people to focus on the unique traditions and culture of each community they feature. As for Antoinette, she wants to tell people through the show that even small hands can achieve big things if we all go at it together.
Indeed, Gina wants to spark a fire that will get people engaged, involved.
“‘G Diaries’ is not just a show. It is the window to the world so we can get people to help us,” she said. “It’s not just a tourism show; it’s about life improving life.”
The show is directed by Alco Guerrero, known for his work on “Pinoy Big Brother,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Binibining Pilipinas,” and the digital concerts of OneMusicPH.
“G Diaries” returns on Feb. 11, 10:30 a.m. before “ASAP” on ABS-CBN. The program airs every second Sunday of the month on ABS-CBN and will also be shown on cable television via Lifestyle Network and ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.
