According to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, Jun.K was driving his Mercedes-Benz car when he was stopped by the police at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Sinsa Station in Gangnam in Seoul.

At the time he was caught, his blood alcohol level was 0.074 percent, which is a license suspension level.

Following the incident, Jun.K posted an apology on the 2PM’s website, saying that what he had done was “foolish.”

“I am deeply regretful and will reflect on myself about my mistake knowing how much drunk driving is wrong. I sincerely apologize to the fans and members who have given me a great deal of love and trust,” he said.

JYP Entertainment said Jun.K will go on hiatus because of the incident.

The drunk driving incident happened just days before 2PM was scheduled to perform at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics “Headliner Show” on Feb. 19. It was previously announced that Taecyeon, who is fulfilling his military service, will be joined by his fellow 2PM members at the show. Jun.K was also scheduled to release a new album in Japan in March.

Jun.K is the second 2PM member to be caught drunk driving. In July 2012, an intoxicated Nichkhun hit a motorcycle in Gangnam, Seoul. A test showed that his blood alcohol content to be 0.056 percent, in violation of Korea’s law on drunk driving. His driver’s license was suspended.

Nichkhun settled with the victim and the case did not go to trial. He was given a summary indictment and was fined 4 million won (P191,580).

Back then, he apologized, saying that “I have betrayed the ones who have given me their love and support, the love and support I don’t deserve with such behavior. I feel the need to take some time off to re-think about my action and myself, to make myself a better person and never again repeat the same mistake. I am truly ashamed that I have disappointed so many, and I am deeply sorry.”
