While singers hold concerts full of love songs this Valentine’s season, Father Fernando Suarez’ is a healing concert at the Oasis of Love on Shaw Boulevard on Sunday.
Fr. Suarez has healed thousands of Filipinos, Italians, Canadians and other nationalities worldwide.
Fr. Alex Balatbat will say Holy Mass at 10 a.m. on Feb. 18. Then the controversial priest steps to the plate, so to speak
Here, Fr. Suarez answers two “issues” hurled at him:
On the alleged Facebook scam, he said, “I have never opened any Facebook account. Let us be vigilant. Kindly report to authorites any Facebook entity that is soliciting money or invitation for pilgrimages using my name Fr. Fernando Suarez. The only community that is associated with me is the Missionaries of Mary Mother of the Poor which is “mmmpheals” on Facebook.”
On his detractors, the priest stated, “I have forgiven and prayed for my detractors.”
Well, it seems even his detractors are slowly becoming his followers. Ramil Esmeria turned scholar-seminarian of Fr. Suarez’ community said, “I used to be a skeptic of Fr. Suarez. I would find impossible cases like paraplegics that have not walked for seven years despite the therapy or people who were born blind or cross-eyed. I would bring these impossible cases to the healing masses of Fr. Suarez hoping they will not heal so I can disprove his healing powers and show the whole world that he was just an ordinary man.”
He then claimed, “On every occasion, I failed. The paralyzed man began to stand up. By the end of the mass, he was pushing his own wheelchair out of the church. The man born blind was crying with his family. He could finally see the faces of his loved ones and his family were crying with him. Even the man born cross-eyed had normal sight again.
“On every miracle I witnessed, I started to believe that God has given this man an amazing gift. Fr. Suarez healed every person I would bring to his healing masses and concerts. From skeptic, I became his seminarian and scholar in the Missionaries of Mary Mother of the Poor, the missionary group that Fr. Suarez set up in the Philippines.”
Another supporter of Fr. Suarez who wishes not to be named was “financially sick” when he attended one of his healing concerts and later, supported his charities. Before long, his businesses bounced back. His financial blessings became so abundant that he even donated a piece of property to Fr. Suarez where the seminary of the Missionaries of Mary Mother of the Poor now stands.
He is now helping Fr. Suarez build a healing center in Panabo, Mindanao.
