Julian Trono and Ella Cruz are doing the movie “#SquadGoals” meant for release this year. They’ve just released their dance cover of Rihanna’s “Lemon” with the video already garnering thousands of views on YouTube. The two recently signed a new endorsement deal. Busy? Truly.
“Very grateful po kami,” Ella said in an interview with Bulletin Entertainment at the recent Greenwich’s World Pizza Day celebration. “Very happy kami na ang daming nagta-trust sa amin.”
Asked what the most memorable experience they’ve had as a love team, Ella gushed, “Everything!”
“Napakadami kasi talaga like lahat ng ginagawa namin, memorable para sa amin. Laging pagkatapos namin gawin ‘yung isang endorsement o performance, pagbaba namin ng stage nagre-realization kami palagi,” Julian said. “Sinasabi namin palagi na ‘Hey, one down,’ ibig sabihin may na-accomplish na namin kaming bago. And we’re glad na we are able to share those moments together.”
On talks that they might be Viva’s next JaDine (the successful tandem of James Reid and Nadine Luste), Julian and Ella pointed out that the reel and real life couple is a tough act to follow.
“Pero siyempre nakaka-flatter po ‘yung idea na naiisip nila na baka posible po kaming (sumunod sa yapak nila JaDine),” Ella said.
For now, Julian said they would rather focus on their pairing, hone their acting skills, and leave the rest to destiny.
The two have no summer plans yet.
“Hopefully may work. Gusto namin laging may work eh. Kung bakasyon, pwede din pero mas okay sana kung may trabaho para maraming blessings. At the same time, magkasama rin naman kami (ni Ella),” Julian said.
From the way they move together on stage, many people would think Julian and Ella are real life couple. However, every time they are asked for confirmation, both evade the question.
“We don’t think we owe anything to people when it comes to our relationship,” Julian said.
According to Ella, they are naturally sweet to each other that’s why people often mistake their closeness for something “more.”
So…what’s the real score?
“Right now, mas focused kami sa work din kasi,” Ella answered. “ Nakakatuwa lang siyempre na magkasama kami palagi, na we’re able to our passion together. Iba talaga kasi ‘yung feeling na nakikipag-work sa isang taong mahalaga at importante sayo.”
Julian hinted that with them, what you see is what you get.
“We’re not into labels din kasi. I mean, more than anything, more than any label, as long as we’re together for each other. Mas importante naman ‘yung togetherness,” he said.
Are they open to being paired with other actors?
Teen dance royalties
The tandem of Julian and Ella first gained notice online for their long string of viral dance video hits.
Among their covers are Bruno Mars’ “Versace On the Floor” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You.” The two also released their first single together titled “Tumalon” under Viva Records late last year.
Julian collaborates with dance groups Mastermind and RockWell.
Asked about the creative process behind their viral videos, Julian shared, “Usually naman nagsisimula talaga sa pagpili ng kanta. I guess kung ano din ‘yung viral song that time.”
“’Yung concept, ‘yung choreography, ‘yung madalas ‘yung body ng sayaw, sa akin nanggagaling. Tapos ‘yung bridge o chorus, ‘yung pang-balanse sa kanya na (Ella). Kumbaga ‘yung finishing sa kanya. Sa akin ‘yung buong journey pero ‘yung magiging signature move (ng sayaw) sa kanya.”
The two admitted having “tampuhan” while rehearsing but it’s nothing too serious.
“Naiinis si Julian sa akin madalas, sinusungitan niya ako kasi hindi ko agad makuha ‘yung step!” Ella said, laughing.
