Bianca Umali welcomes a new chapter in her life: Adulthood.
The Kapuso actress turned 18 last March 2 and she admitted having mixed emotions about it.
In an interview, Bianca shared she feels “nervous” and “excited” at the same time, thinking of the new responsibilities she needs to handle as a young woman.
A lot of people are asking me how I feel about entering adulthood, na adult na ako officially,” she shared. “I don’t know what to feel but I’m sure na mag-iiba na po ‘yung mga perspectives ko sa buhay kasi magkakaroon na po ako ng mga priorities na kailangan kong i-handle at bantayan.”
According to Bianca, she is still in the process of maturing – and that she wants to take everything slowly, step by step.
Career-wise, Bianca promised to do more of what is expected of her. She looks forward to added challenges and growth as artist.
Does it mean she’s now ready to shed her sweet image?
If anything, the actress said she will go with the flow, leaving everything into God’s will.
She plans to help an orphanage soon as a way of giving back. Bianca is also the World Vision’s Youth Ambassador for education.
Bianca believes her biggest accomplishment so far is her independence.
To those who don’t know it, the actress lost her parents at a young age that is why she had to learn to take care of herself. She thinks experience really molded her into who she is now.
“It’s not easy,” she said talking about not having a parent by her side.
She hopes to accomplish more in the coming years. Her number one goal is self-improvement.
“Not only sa work but in everything I do.
The actress is thankful to her family, friends and supporters. She believes these people were sent by her parents to guide and protect her.
“I believe my parents talk to me through these people. They always remind me to be humble and to stay grounded.
Bianca will hold her debut birthday party on March 17 at EDSA Shangri-La, courtesy of her home network. Fans should expect the hashtag #SimplyBianca.
A few days before the special event, Bianca stunned people with a set of pre-debut photos, released by Nice Print Photography on Instagram. These show the actress clad in a black corset top, her hair tied up in a bun while she’s holding a red rose.
According to Bianca, if it were up to her, there won’t be a party. But because people keep on telling her, “Isang beses ka lang mag-e-18 sa buhay mo,” she acceded.
Actually, the last time I celebrated my birthday was when I’m seven years old – children’s party pa,” she said, laughing. “Pero dahil sabi nga po ng mga tao sa paligid ko na minsan lang daw po ito, and it is something special so I should celebrate it, pumayag na po ako.”
Bianca said she is hands-on with all the preparations – from the invitations to the stage design — giving her 100 percent effort for the bash.
The party does not have a concrete theme. “All personalized,” was how she described it.
The “Kambal, Karibal” star will wear dresses made by Dubai-based Filipino designer Fay Reyes, with styling by JP Dizon and glamming up by Ting Duque and Aries Manal.
Talking more of the details, Bianca revealed industry friends Bea Binene and Kyline Alcantara will be part of the 18 candles. GMA executive Joey Abacan and “Ismol Family” co-star Ryan Agoncillo will be part of the 18 roses.
Of course, her perennial partner Miguel Tanfelix is her escort.
In a previous interview with Miguel, he shared he is preparing a special gift for Bianca. The actress couldn’t help but be excited about it, though saying she’s not expecting anything grandiose.
If there’s one thing she will give herself as a gift, it is travel in Japan.
“For the longest time, I had a problem with my passport din kumbaga ang tagal ko po siyang inantay.
