“Gusto kong pumasok into entrepreneurship. Ngayon I have Potato Corner opening up sa Blumentritt sa Mandaluyong. Me and Ms. Aileen nagpa-plan din kami to put up food and beverage business as well,” she said during her contract signing (her third) for Sisters Sanitary Napkin recently.

Aileen is Ms. Aileen Choi-Go, Megasoft VP for Marketing.

“’Yung relationship namin nag-grow na, dati mga advice lang sa lovelife ko. Ngayon nagtatanong ako ng mga tips tungkol sa travel, tungkol sa business. She helps me improve myself,” said Myrtle who graduated Cum Laude in UP Diliman with a degree in Broadcast Communication.

After graduation, Myrtle realized that “when it rains, it pours”

“This year I have been blessed. There are contract renewals. I’m doing ‘Wonder Bra’ tapos I have an upcoming film under Regal Entertainment,” she said.

Time was when TV projects were scarce after she came out of the “Pinoy Big Brother House.”

“Before, when I was starting right after ‘PBB’, dapat meron na akong upcoming TV shows pero naudlot. Minsan tinatanong mo sa sarili mo na when is the tamang time for you. I think it’s really God’s time na ngayon ang panahon na ’yon. Ngayon ay mas ready ako as an actress, as a person, as an artist.”

Aileen is not surprised that Myrtle is visible these days as “sobrang sipag niya.”

Doing tours for Sisters Sanitary Napkin has made Myrtle realized the impact of giving talks to students in far-flung provinces.

“Most memorable ’yung umiyak sila nang makita nila kami. First time nila makakita ng artista, first nilang ma-experience na may pumunta sa kanila kahit gaano kalayo ’yung school para mag-give ng talk sa kanila. Minsan kapag pumupunta kami doon umiiyak sila, sobrang na-a-appreciate nila na nandoon kami,” she related.

She discovered that millennial kids are open to relationships.

“Napansin namin na marami sa millennials ngayon, parang may mga relationships na at parang open sila doon. We really learned na right now mas open sila to be with another person or be in a relationship,” she said.

On her own love life, the actress refused to divulge details of her non-showbiz suitor.

But she rattled off reasons for liking a guy.

“Basta he is the type of person that would help me grow din. He’s a type of person na kapag kausap mo may naaambag siya to the table. Napansin ko kasi sometimes kapag sa showbiz you’re looking at someone so handsome or so beautiful pero kapag magkasama na kayo ay wala na kayong napag-uusapan. For me, ayoko ng ganoong klaseng relationship na parang tititigan mo na lang siya na parang painting na ang guwapo pero wala kang makukuha from him. Ako, ang gusto kong tao, someone that would help me grow and make me a better person,” she said.

Asked if she is looking for a smart guy or a handsome one, she said, “Combination of both. Dapat na-a-attract ka pa rin sa kanya, ’wag naman ’yung one of two lang.”
