An article on the National Geographic website says Earth is even more bizarre than people could imagine. Our planet has a bunch of oddities, from extraordinary landscapes to exceptional wildlife.
In an effort to showcase these, GMA Network airs by today the infotainment program “Amazing Earth” hosted by Dingdong Dantes.
Known as someone who wants to keep discovering new things, Dingdong said the show caters to his adventurous side.
“I love to travel. In every destination, I always discover na marami pa talaga akong hindi nalalaman at dapat ma-explore about how beautiful this planet is. Kaya naman in this show, expect me to be part of the journey of every viewer—that in every episode, I will be learning side-by-side with them,” he said.
“Amazing Earth” features the Philippine presentation of British Broadcasting Company’s (BBC) award-winning series, “Planet Earth II.” The actor will bring the audience to different places in the Philippines — from its natural formations and all types of terrains, to its fascinating flora and fauna.
“There are so many things na pwede nating i-explore. May mga bagay na hindi kayang marating ng ating mga paa or even kahit ng eroplano, that’s why I think this show would be a great help for everyone na ma-discover ‘yung mga kakaibang bagay sa ating kapaligiran.”
Describing it as a show for all ages, the program presents amazing wildlife stories using ultra high definition cameras, remote recording and aerial drone technology.
“Since ‘Amazing Earth’ is based on ‘Planet Earth’ of BBC, medyo may pressure na ma-meet ‘yung expectation. Challenging din kung paano namin ma-lo-localize‘yung content ng BBC and make it interesting to the Filipino viewers,” he maintained.
According to the actor, this kind of show gives him a different sense of fulfillment.Dingdong, an advocate of education, youth development and protection of the environment, said the show will highlight how everyone should treat and protect people, animals and our planet.
So dito sa show, kasabay ko silang natututo, nag-e-enjoy,” he added.
Apart from places andanimals, Dingdong also interviws “local heroes.”
Forthe show’s pilot episode, Dingdong explores the beauty of Batangas.
Apart from his infotainment show, Dingdong revealed a new teleserye is already underway.
His latest film “Sid And Aya” is a certified box-office hit, earning 144 million in three weeks. What’s next?
“May dalawang (films) na pinag-u-usapan na pwedeng maging kasunod,” he revealed.
Rumors are rife that Dingdong will be joining comedian Vice Ganda in a movie intended for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The actor remains “clueless” on this.
“Wala pa naman kumakausap sa akin, so tignan na lang natin,” he disclosed.
Dingdong with several other Kapuso artists are flying to Singapore June 24 in celebration of the Philippine Independence Day in Asia Pacific.
Dingdong recently directed Marian Rivera in an episode of “Tadhana.”
The shooting went well and Dingdong said he discovered a lot about his wife in the process.
“Sobrang siyang kahanga-hanga,” he said. “Naging magandang opportunity ‘yun to see a different kind of Marian.
