Change has come for comedian John “Sweet” Lapus.
He is reinventing his showbiz career by pursuing his script writing and directorial ambitions for film, stage and television.
With the encouragement of Star Cinema and writer-director Olivia Lamasan, the comedian enrolled in a directing class facilitated by Carlito Siguion-Reyna at the Cinemalaya Foundation in Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
He calls this “#SweetBack2School”on social media. Sweet plans to submit a script, tailor-made for Vice Ganda and Paolo Ballesteros as lead stars.
The comedy actor has also enrolled in a writing class under award-winning screenwriter Ricardo Lee.
His first full-length script made it to the Top 30 of Cinema One Original, Sweet shared. And his one-act play has been accepted for stage reading at CCP’s Virgin Lab Fest. Woot! (Report by Regina Mae Parungao)
