Content producer Erwan Heussaff uploaded a vlog recently that shows him and his brother-in-law, Nico Bolzico, “plogging” the streets of McKinley towards Antipolo City.
Erwan explains plogging as “the act of jogging and picking up trash.” According to some reports, plogging was introduced by the Swedish as a new workout trend which is both healthy and eco-friendly.
At the start of the video, Erwann said, “People just need to stop blaming the government; the private sector. And ask yourself ‘What are we doing, as individuals, to make this whole situation better?’ ’Cause at the end of the day it’s up to us.”
Even though the weather was gloomy, it did not stop the two from their mission of cleaning the streets and staying fit.
Nico and Erwan were armed with gloves and black garbage bags for the 10-km stretch of activity.
On their first two kilometers, they accumulated two bags of trash. Erwan said, “And you know the crazy part is? It’s not a big mound of trash. It’s tiny pieces of plastics that are in the dirt.”
At the end of the video, Erwan revealed most of the trash they picked are candy wrappers, water bottles, and shopping bags.
“Plastic is not the devil, the problem is how we use it and how we dispose of it. Consume consciously, don’t litter, educate people and try to lower your impact on our planet,” he wrote on Instagram.
