The thing with Cinemalaya is that you can watch any of the official entries with no idea of what it is about, yet almost always come out of the theater feeling you learned something true about human experience, never mind if it’s dark or painful at times.
Today is the last day of showing for most of the entries. Only a few will have regular run in theaters in the coming months, and even the big winners in tomorrow’s awards night aren’t assured of this. That’s why loyal Cinemalaya disciples make it a point to watch as many movies as they can at the Cultural Center of the Philippines or in select mall cinemas where these are shown. You’ll never know it, but your choice could be the next internationally awarded Pinoy movie to give you bragging rights of having seen it before most everyone else.
