K-pop boy band BTOB’s leader Eunkwang enlisted in the Korean military on Aug. 21 to start his mandatory service.
The 27-year-old singer entered a military camp in Hwacheon, Gangwon province to undergo five weeks of military training and will be serving as an active duty soldier.
Before his enlistment, Eunkwang posted a handwritten letter for fans and his photo of him with a buzz cut on Instagram.
“Please take care of BTOB’s (new) leader Minhyuk and younger members. Let’s cheer up until we meet again. I really appreciate and love you,” he wrote, according to Yonhap News.
He is the first member of BTOB to enlist and in his absence, Minhyuk will be taking over as the group’s leader.
Eunkwang earlier announced his military enlistment in an Instagram post, saying, “I was called by the country to protect the country. I feel keep the promises with Melodies when I return safely. I will live my life to the full without regrets for the next 2 weeks. Look forward to it. I am always thankful to you. And I love you a lot,” reported KBS.
He will be discharged on April 7, 2020.
