Dream to become ‘viral’ queen lives on

I was part of the longest running prank show in the Philippines “Wow Mali” for 8 years, and one of my regular segment producers for five years was Madz Aguilar. He is so hyperactive that I would sometimes call him “Direk Joel” (for Joel Lamangan) because of his passion and dedication.

Madz started his production career in 2000 on ABC-5, and “Wow Mali” gave him one of his biggest opportunities. He took it all the way from being a production assistant to supervising segment producer.

May dancing, singing, acting. Kaya panay ang selfie ko with them,” Madz said. (Mahilig sa artista? Akala ko sa boys! Chos!)

Madz was also a regular on-cam talent of the prank show. Some of his famous segments were “Bulol na Reporter” (yung di maintindihan magreport), “Madz Cheke” (cheke pambayad sa palengke!), and “Celebrity Wrong Person” (tatawagin name ng artista pag nakasalubong pero iba ang lalapitan!).

The Ateneo de Naga Development Communication graduate is now with GMA as a stillman. But his creative juices won’t allow him to just take photos, so he thought of producing videos featuring his on and off cam colleagues. He uploads them to his own digital segment titled “Madz’ Latest.” (Gumagawa ng sariling show?! spin-off daw ng talk show namin dati sa TV5 na ang latest!)

His behind-the-scenes videos have inspired him to produce more segments. His most watched videos are the “Pag lumingon ito, kay madz ito” series. (Gusto maging viral queen!)

His most memorable video is with the “Gwapong Pulis” which reached millions of views. “Gusto ko kasi ordinary person, to model, to actor. Gusto ko maka 100 good looking boys.

Madz would always say his videos are for fun and entertainment but he has encountered some men who are not into his gimmick.

He hopes to direct his own full-length film years someday. (I’m sure puro boys ang nasa cast!)

Push!)
