K-pop superstars BTS has added another feat to their long list of achievements: being on the cover of TIME magazine.
TIME chose BTS as one of its 2018 Next Generation Leaders along with Kevin Kühnert, Sonita Alizadeh, The Weeknd, Kerstin Forsberg, Farida Ado, Chris Long, Hou Yifan, Adwoa Aboah, Anthony Boyle, Ariana Grande, Christine and the Queens, Kylian Mbappé, Sabrina Cartabia, Arthur Zang, Fatima al Banawi, Hasan Minhaj, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Christine Figgener, Kylian Mbappé, Rasha Abu-Safieh and Bassma Ali, and Amandla Stenberg.
BTS will be on the cover of TIME’s Oct. 22 issue in the magazine’s Asian and South Pacific editions.
Last June, BTS was named as one of TIME magazine’s 25 Most Influential People on the Internet. Prior to this, BTS won the TIME 100 Reader Poll of the most influential people in April.
After finishing the North American leg of the “Love Yourself” world tour, the boys are currently in Europe.
They just completed their London tour last Oct. 9 and 10, and will be performing at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on Oct. 13 followed by concerts at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany on Oct. 16 and 17, and Accorhotels Arena in Paris, France on Oct. 19 and 20.
“We have waited for today for like, years! When we first heard about breaking the UK charts, it was so amazing and surprising because the the UK chart is so well respected. You have the greatest musicians in your country, and in this city, so we feel so grateful for that. We’ll never take it for granted. Thank you so much. We love you London!” RM told the audience at the London concert.
This year alone, BTS achieved numerous feats including winning the Top Social Artist at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), Favorite Global Music Star at the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA), Choice International Artist at the Teen Choice Awards and Favorite Social Artist at the American Music Awards (AMAs).
They topped the Billboard 200 chart twice this year with their albums “Love Yourself: Tear” and “Love Yourself: Answer.”
Their music video “IDOL” made YouTube history by becoming the most viewed in the first 24 hours.
