EXCLUSIVE: This is how they do it

Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico believe married life isn’t a one-size-fits-all way for couples.

Even though they are husband and wife, Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heussaff still do some things separately at times.
For one, each goes on solo travel from time to time. She also gets to be with her friends, same way he does with his own set. There are no do’s and don’ts. Isn’t that cool?

Not for everyone. In an exclusive interview with Bulletin Entertainment, Solenn and Nico said some people don’t like it – and they say so online. Still, the two are adamant that every romantic relationship is unique.

She tells naysayers to stop comparing their relationship to other people, say, parents, friends, celebrities, and even Instagram personalities.

“There isn’t a magic formula when it comes to these things. What works for you might not work for us. I would say that my life hasn’t changed completely when I got married to Nico,” Solenn explained.

“Sometimes I hear people say, ‘Why are you doing that? You’re already a married woman.’ But, Nico has his own set of friends and he doesn’t need to ask permission every time he needs to go out. The thing here is, we’re happy in our home but we’re also happy on our own. Nothing can stop us from doing what we want just because we have a ring on our finger.”

They also get annoyed when people ask: “When will you have a baby?”

“When Nico and I started dating, they asked us, ‘When are you getting married?’ When we were about to get married, they asked, ‘When is the date?’ Now, we’re constantly being nagged when I will get pregnant,” she said.

Both love children and so Solenn and Nico will definitely have one, maybe two, in the future, in their “own time.”

“We don’t want to stress ourselves with that. Maybe we want to have kids 15 years from now. We believe there’s no right time for that. When it happens, it happens,” he said.

Wifezilla, ‘bullied’ husband
Solenn and Nico are often dubbed as the definition of #couplegoals with millions of fans watching their every move on social media.

While oversharing on the platform has become an issue now, the two think they are above it. There are times they put their cell phones down and simply appreciate the moment they have.

“Of course, sometimes we get carried away, but we do have problems that we still keep to ourselves. We don’t post those online, don’t talk about them online,” Solenn said.

“But if it is something that the younger generation can learn from us, then we do (post it). I guess, in the midst of the whole millennial generation nowadays, we want to share some cute things about us without, you know, oversharing.”

The two love to prank and compete with each other (look up #wifezilla and #elbolzico on Instagram). These things make their relationship happier.

They also have a deeper meaning for “competitiveness.”

“Our competition is really healthy. I believe because it is something that challenges you to better yourself. You always want to improve as a person,” Solenn said.

Nico added, “It helps you to grow, to give your best. But remember that if you win, you’ll be happy. But if you lose, you learn something. So it’s always a win-win situation.”

Nico and Solenn further raised the bar on what #couplegoals really means as they showed off their competitive grit on the road in the recently launched Chevrolet Colorado Storm Challenge.

In a three-part online video series released by The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet vehicles and parts in the Philippines, Nico and Solenn went behind the wheel of the new Chevrolet Colorado High Country Storm to take on different 4×4 challenges, including the handling test, water splash challenge, and hill climb challenge, in the vast and unforgiving terrain of Pampanga. Nico emerged as the grand winner.

“I’d never own a truck before. So I really panicked because I’m like a grandma when I drive. But after this, I thought I was a professional driver. I learned that I can also be a man, like when you say car, it’s usually about man. So I want to be one already,” Solenn quipped.

Asked about her showbiz projects, Solenn shared she just finished a movie last March with Benjamin Alves. She is set to do another one with Sam Milby and Angeline Quinto, and a teleserye with Dennis Trillo and Dingdong Dantes.
More, the multi-talented actress will hold her third art exhibit next year under the theme “What children might not see in the future.”
