“Nanay Tatay,” written and performed by Chud Festejo, was the winning piece that hailed him the Grand Champion among the 10 finalists who competed during PhilPop Finals Night 2018 recently.

The song talks of the “innocence and vulnerability” of child beggars. For his work that puts a twist on a children’s clapping game, Festejo won P1 Million Pesos.

It also also won the Maynilad Best Music Video with the direction of Ryan Evangelista.

The 1st runner-up is Ferdinand Aragon for his love song “Di Ko Man,” written in Bisaya. A rank lower than him is Jek Buenafe with “Ako Ako,” interpreted by Feel Day featuring Hans Dimayuga.

“Yun Tayo” by songwriter Donna Onilongo bagged the Smart People’s Choice Award.
