The ceremony was held Dec. 14 at Macao Cultural Center. The Pinay actress also slayed the red carpet, enchanting the international media with her bubbly personality and looking elegant in a black gown.

Presented by Asia Editor of Variety Magazine, Patrick Frater, and Head of Festival Management of IFFAM, Lorna Tee, the other awardees are Iqbaal Ramadhan (Indonesia), Zaira Wasim (India), Xana Tang (Vietnam) and Ryan Zheng Kai (China).

At a press conference held earlier that day, Anne said that while she has been part of Philippine show business for years now, she hopes the Variety Award would inspire and help open doors for her colleagues. She also pointed out that popularity online could only go so far and that only talent could guarantee longevity in her line of work.

Anne talked about her months-long training for “BuyBust,” which is the only Filipino movie screened at IFFAM 2018. She mentioned her upcoming movie “Aurora,” saying it’s also festival material having been chosen as an official entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

The IFFAM gathered around 800 guests including internationally-acclaimed film directors, film stars and industry professionals from around the world. The Film Festival screened 54 spectacular films this year, including 11 films competing for nine awards in the Competition section as well as six film entries of the New Chinese Cinema section for the Best New Chinese-language Film of the Year.
