Global pop singing sensation and 2019 double Grammy nominee Dua Lipa will co-write and perform a new single, “Swan Song,” for the action-adventure film “Alita: Battle Angel.”
Under the Twentieth Century Fox, the film will be aired in the Philippines on February 6.
The movie was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau (Avatar) and directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City).
“From the moment we saw her video for ‘New Rules,’ we knew that Dua Lipa would be the perfect artist to do a song for Alita: Battle Angel,” Landau said.
“She has the kick-ass strength, power and attitude in her performances that Alita embodies in the movie. Jim, Robert and I are thrilled to have her onboard and are confident she will make ‘Swan Song’ the perfect inspiring and empowering anthem for our film,” the producer added.
“Swan Song” was written by Justin Tranter, Kennedi Lykken, Mattias Larsson, Robin Fredriksson, Tom Holkenborg and Dua Lipa.
“I am intrigued at both Alita herself, and the amazing team of creators that came together to make this movie possible. I see a little of myself in her, in both her badass spirit and our shared haircut. Alita is all about empowerment and standing up for who you are, which are two things that resonate with me,” Lipa said.
When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past.
